Grand National Champions
Five years ago, the Saline Twirlettes entered into a new division at national competition; the halftime division.This would challenge the group, be more competitive, be more conducive to more members, have more prestige at nationals, and get the Twirlettes more on the national scene. After 5 years of placing in the top 5 and the last 2 years as 2nd place the team accomplished their goal. On July 21, 2009 the Saline Twirlettes captured the Grand National Senior Halftime Show Twirl championship and was awarded the Beth Wilson Artistic Award amongst 40+ teams for the 2nd year.At the awards ceremony team members broke out in tears when the 2nd place team was announced and showed an outpouring of emotions when the senior members Nathan Magyar, Stacey Girbach, Kelsey Lamkin and Mary Ciotta accepted their 5 foot traveling trophy!!The team is comprised of members 7th grade to college;
For one year the Team will be the owner of the prestigious DeVinney traveling Dynasty trophy. The current trophy dates back to 1993 and will now holds names of teams from Alabama, Kansas, Nebraska, New Hampshire and now the Saline Twirlettes, from Saline, MI .The Saline Twirlettes name will now forever be marked on this trophy and a winner of a Grand National title. The Twirlettes hope to share their win with the community by displaying the trophy at City hall, the Chamber office, Library and the high school trophy case for viewing.
