2012 Distinguished Young Woman of Michigan

Chrissy was named the Distinguished Young Woman of Michigan for 2012 on January 28, 2012 and also won four  category awards ; scholastic, interview, talent, and self expression .

Chrissy  will now have the chance to compete for over $40,000 in scholarships at the Distinguished Young Woman of America program in Mobile, Alabama on June 28, 29, 30th.

The Saline Twirlettes offer Baton Twirling and Modeling in the Washtenaw county area & beyond to boys and girls of all ages. The instructors prepare students for all levels of recreational twirling and competitive twirling. Recreational classes offer students an opportunity to learn basic twirling skills, tricks, marching, and bodywork. Students participate in recitals, parades, special shows and local festivals. Students are also prepared for competition twirling in individual and team events. Competitive classes are offered for more experienced twirlers in modeling, fancy strut, 2-baton, 3-baton, show and flag. Baton Twirlers are able to compete on a local level or can train to reach regional and national levels. Class locations in Saline & Grass Lake.

History:
Established in the fall of 1968, The Saline Twirlettes are today, a dynamic, accomplished and nationally recognized community-based baton twirling organization.  Over 1,900 young people have been Saline Twirlettes.  It is not uncommon to find the children of former Twirlettes part of the organization today.  In recent years The Saline Twirlettes have performed before 40,000 people annually at various community events!Energized by several state, regional and Thirteen national championships in the last 9 years, including their most prestigous win in 2009.The "JUNGLE" team won the Sr.  Grand  National Halftime Show Twirl Championship along with being the recipient, for the 2nd year in a row, of the Beth Wilson Artistic Award. In 2011, the team captured their 2nd Grand National title by winning the Jr. Grand National Halftime show twirl team championship.  The Saline Twirlettes are growing.  This year, 60 young women and two males, 4 to 24 years of age are part of the twirling program not only in Saline, but Grass Lake as well. The Twirlettes are proud to offer a recreational and competitive program, focusing on team and individual success.
