SALINE TWIRLETTES TAKE THEIR TALENTS TO THE COLLEGIATE LEVEL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN, EASTERN MICHIGAN,WESTERN MICHIGAN AND VIRGINIA TECH UNIVERSITY FOR THE 2011 SEASON.


Saline Twirlettes is extremely proud of its members and alumni that have reached the ultimate goal of auditioning and being selected to represent their college as a twirler. The level of dedication required to reach and maintain this goal included investments in time and money by parents, family, coaches, and the twirler themselves to achieve this high aspiration. Twirling for your university on a collegiate football field on a fall Saturday in front of thousands of roaring fans is one of the ultimate rewards for all twirlers.

EMU FEATURE TWIRLER   ~   Conner Potter
2010 -present

Conner is a feature twirler at Eastern Michigan University this fall. She will join veteran  member Andrea Coffey and new member Mariah Austin.  As a 15 year member of the Saline Twirlettes Conner has been an integral part of the teams success helping them win 13 national titles. Since twirling at the age of 4, she has won many state and Miss Majorette titles. Her latest acheivement at NBTA nationals was a 3rd im 3-baton and 13th in Advanced solo.  As a 2010 graduate of Saline High School she is attending Washtenaw Community College as a early elementary education major.

Nathan Magyar and Stacey Girbach continue their competitve twirling in the summer of 2011. Nathan earned 2nd place in freestylye qualifying him for the World Team. He also placed top 10 in the Collegiate down the field routine.
Stacey and Nathan represent the University of Michigan at National compeition. Stacey placed 3rd in solo and made the finals while also placing 10th in strut, 13th in collegiate halftime and 16th in the College Miss Majorette of America Pageant.

Stacey is a  transfer student majoring in Early Childhood Education.  She is a 14 year member of the Saline Twirlettes, a former captain of the National Champion Saline Majorettes , former State and Miss Majorette twirling champion,  Top 5 national finalist, and instructor for the Twirlettes. This past summer Stacey continued her success at national level competiion representing the University of Michigan. . Stacy is excited to have completed her goal of becoming a college feature twirler and thrilled to have the time of her life at the BIG HOUSE.

Nathan Magyar, a 2008 Dexter High School, MI, graduate, was selected as a Michgan Twirler for the fall of 2008 season as an incoming freshman. He is in his 4th season as a senior in 2011.    His twirling career started 13 years ago, when he saw his piano teacher's daughter twirl at Dexter. He then pursued lessons with her to enter his school talent show. Nathan continued his career with the Saline Twirlettes , 13-time National Champions and in 2009 helped them to win the Grand National Senior Hafltime show twirl championship and in 2011 the Jr. Grand National Championship. He also joined the New Alliance Dance Twirl team comprised of Twirlettes and National level twirlers. The team made it to the grand team finals and placed 4th overall in the nation. Nathan competed in team and individual events and qualifed to be a part of the 2012 WORLD TEAM.   He has numerous state, regional , national, and world titles including being the 2005  World Silver Medalist in Freesyle and solo  and the 2009 Mens Senior National Champion.  He is the son of Patti and Jim Magyar and has a younger sister Emily.  Nathan has a triple major at the University of Michigan; Theatre, Spanish and Organizational Psychology.

Western Michigan Feature Twirler~ Haley Williams
Haley Williams is the new freshman feature twirler with the Bronco Marching band for the 2011 season.

Haley's first game as a collegiate twirler with Western Michigan was on September 3, 2011 at the Big House in Ann Arbor.
Haley Williams, a 13 year member of the Saline Twirlettes , has had a career filled with much successs. She is a former MI state Miss Majorette and State Champion. She has placed on the national level  as well . In 2011, she placed 3rd in Advanced strut qualifying her for the finals and 2nd in Team Member of the year.  She has helped the Twirlettes win 13 national team titles including the 2011 Jr. Halftime grand national title. As a member of New Alliance , Haley helped the team reach the finals with a 4th place  in the finals. Haley has used her talent in twirling to be successful in the pageant world as well. She was the 2009 Miss Michigan Outstanding Teen and is the current Michigan Distinguished Young Women of Michigan. Haley is a Internationl business/Fashion Merchandising and Textile Major and Chi Omega Sorority member. Haley is thrilled to be fulfilling her life long dream of becoming a collegiate twirler and enjoying twirling with the Bronco Marching band.

VIRGINIA TECH FEATURE TWIRLER~HARLIE DALE~
Harlie Dale is the new Feature Twirler for Virginia Tech University!
Harlie Dale is from Buena Vista, VA and a student of Missy Townsend. Due to Missy being a long time guest instrutor with the Saline Twirlettes, Harlie also became a team member. In 2011 she joined the Twirlettes team and helped the team win the 2011 Jr. Grand National halftime title. She is also an origianl member of the dance twirl team New Alliance. This year the team made up of 5 Twirlettes, Harlie and Tiffany Reicosky made the Grand team finals and a 4th place finish.  Harlie has held many VA state , Regional, and national titles herself.  Her latest accomplishments are making the Collegiate finals at TWirl Mania, NBTA Nationals,  top 5 in strut , solo, 2 baton, and 4th Runner up in the College Miss Majorette of America pageant.  The Twirlettes are proud to have Harlie be a part of our team and our twirlng family.  Harlie is a sophmore at Virginia Tech and will take the field in the fall of 2011 as the new Feature Twirler with the Hokie Marching band.  GOBBLE GOBBLE!

EMU FEATURE TWIRLER 2009-10

Jessica is a 2005 graduate of Saline High School where she led the Saline Majorettes. She twirled at BGSU for one year and continued her education at BGSU a 2nd year. She then moved home and started attending Washtenaw Community College. Currently she works full time at Express at the Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor, attends school as a Fashion Merchandising and Textile Major and for the 2nd year twirls with the EMU Marching band. Jessica is thrilled to twirl on the same field with her sister for the 2010 season.

Bethany Lawson

was the first twirler back to EMU after the reinstatement by Director John Zastoupil. Bethany graduated from Miami University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Education degree and was a feature twirler for four years. Bethany taught one year at a Charter school in Georgia and decided to return to EMU to pursue a Masters degree in Education while being the 1st feature twirler back at EMU.  During the  spring of 2009  Bethany was instrumental in starting a spring audition offering positions at EMU for 1-3 twirlers. Bethany twirled for the 2009 season as well.

MARY CIOTTA


Mary performed back at Saline HS in NOv. 2009.
Mary Ciotta, a 2008 graduate of Saline High school attended Purdue University her freshman and 1st semester sophmore year.   During that time she twirled  with the Purdue Marching band as a PURDUE BOILERETTE during the 2008-9 seasons. Mary twirled at home football games, basketball games, local performances and at two INDY 500 parades and race. She competed for the last time at Nationals in 2009 with the Saline Twirlettes team and helped them win the Grand National Senior Halftime Championship and Artistic Award. Mary attended Washtenaw Community College for one semester and is now attending Michigan State University pursuing a degree in Special Education.  Mary continues to teach for the Saline Twirlettes and other local programs.
West Virginia Feature Twirler 2005- 2009~ Donovan Sarr ~

Donovan is a 2004 graduate of Mt. Gilead, Ohio high school and was a member of the Saline Twirlette National Team in 2006-2008 .  In 2007 he competed on the Saline Twirlettes Advanced Senior Dance Twirl and in 2007-8 Senior Halftime team.  Donovan was selected as a feature twirler at West Virginia University his sophomore year. Donovan is the current 2008 National Sr. Men's 2-baton champion and 2nd place in Mens Sr. Solo.   Donovan qualifed for the 2009 World Competition in Belgium in solo and 2-baton.   Other Awards:  2007 National Champion Men’s  Solo Champion and 2006 Mens 2-baton world champion. Donovan is entering his senior season in 2008 as a psychology major.

 Saline Twirlettes became Kelsey's twirling team after starting some recreational classes in Ypsilanti Lincoln Schools Community ed program at age 8. She has been part of champion teams winning team and individual success.  Kelsey entered  her freshman year at Grand Valley  and twirled with the Laker Marching band during the 2008 season. She has now transferred to North Texas University. She competed for the last time at Nationals in 2009 with the Saline Twirlettes team and helped them win the Grand National Senior Halftime Championship and Artistic Award.

Liesl is a 2003 graduate of Saline High School, a ten-year member of Saline Twirlettes and was selected as a freshman to be part of "The Touch of Blue" the prestigious Penn State Blue Band majorette squad. The Touch of Blue are 5 time National Collegiate Twirling Champions. The squad is coached by Heather Bean. http://www.blueband.psu.edu/

 
Liesl Green a 2003 alumni of Saline High School, graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in May.   Green earned a Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management Bachelor of Science diploma with distinction.  While attending Penn State, Liesl was on awarded dean’s list honors 7 out of 8 semesters.  Liesl is most proud of her membership with the renowned Penn State Blue Band and the Penn State Majorettes, The Touch of Blue.  A member of the majorette squad all 4 years, Green also twirled on the competitive team and helped the squad earn 6 National Collegiate Twirling Titles.  Green also returned to Saline this past summer to train, teach and compete with the Saline Twirlettes.  While at National Competition at Notre Dame University in July 2007, Liesl competed as a member of the Saline Twirlettes Halftime and Senior Advanced Dance Twirl routines, as well as the Collegiate Halftime and Dance Twirl Routines with the Penn State Majorettes. Liesl wishes to thank all her Saline Twirlette members for making her last national competition so memorable.  Liesl is now employed by Marriott Hotels, International in Vale, Colorado.

Bethany is a 2003 graduate of Middletown High School and was chosen as a freshman to be a feature twirler at Miami University.  Bethany twirled for 4 years as a feature twirler and became the captain her senior year.  Bethany has competed with the Saline Twirlettes National Team for the past 4 summers. Bethany competes individually and has represented Miami in the College Miss Majorette of America pageant. Bethany competed at her last nationals in 2007 as part of the Saline Twirlettes Senior Advanced Dance Twirl team and Senior Hafltime team.  Bethany is now employed as a teacher in a northern Atlanta suburb.

Stacy, a graduate from South Haven, MI high school and Michigan State University was the feature twirler for all four of her years at MSU. While in college Stacy was a member of the 2001 and 2002 Saline Twirlette National Teams. Her numerous awards and titles for competitive twirling include: 1st runner-up College Miss Majorette of America (twice), 16 time top 10 finisher in the Miss Majorette of America Pageant, 13 time World Champion, 13 time Miss Majorette of Michigan along with numerous State and regional titles. Upon her graduation, the Twirlettes were thrilled to welcome Stacy as a coach for their teams and individual twirlers. Jessica is a 2005 graduate of Saline High school and a 13-year member of Saline Twirlettes. Jessica was selected as a freshman to the Bowling Green Orange Line part of the Falcon Marching Band. Jessica holds many individual titles from Michigan. She competed at her last national competion in 2006 as a member of the Senior Dance Twirl and Junior Hafltime team. Jessica currently is attending Washtenaw Community College.
